Why I Started WEW
My name is Chad, and I started White Elm Woodworks in 2023 with a simple appreciation for working with my hands and creating things that have meaning.
As a mechanical engineer, I've always found myself coming home from my full-time desk job feeling little to no satisfaction at the end of the day. I became an engineer to build, not just move a mouse around on a foam pad for 8-10 hours a day. Woodworking has provided me the outlet to pursue the hands-on task that gives me fulfillment in work.
Over the years, I've progressed and grown to enjoy the work more and more. There is something special about taking a rough piece of lumber and turning it into something useful—I believe that is a direct correlation to many of our journey's through life and also another reason why so many people gravitate towards this type of work.
